My first choice would be for the Shadow 1100, mainly for being water cooled. Both the other bikes are air cooled, but they are all shaft drive. If you live where the summers are real hot and get in some traffic the water cooled will maintain temperature better where you may get hot on the air cooled engines. An engine that gets overheated won't last as long either.

Love my Shadow. Don't want anything else. I did NOT feel that way when I bought it.
Vstar would top my list today if I were shopping new but I'd have to do a lot more research. Shopping used, I'd be looking for a VT1100T -- Honda Shadow ACE Tourer. Intruder: My wife's ride is an S50, aka Intruder 800. It is a super bike but too small and cramped for me. There are a lot of maintenance quirks that I don't like but nothing that would keep me from buying one. I have no doubt the 1400 isn't much different. All are good bikes. All should be available for good prices. The condition of what you find is likely more important than the differences among the models.
