Default Almost a new owner

Been back and forth on buying a bike. Found a couple I like. I think the way I am going to go is a 2000 Shadow 600. All stock, I am just hoping that I am not going too small. I am buying a bike, for the shear pleasure, it looks exciting. Im not looking to go screaming fast, I just want to go cruise. My name is Tim, I will probably be on here a lot looking in to how-to's What are some thoughts and ideas, im a 200 lb guy first time rider 600 too small, or just right?

A 600 will be plenty. If budget allows, do what Shadowhoss says, a 750 will be good. If you add bags/windshield, decide to go 2 up. The 750 will be there for you. Congrats and be safe.

I'm 6' 195 and I'm starting to feel as tho my Aero 750 is a bit on the smallish size after 2k miles.

I'm 220lb 5' 11". I personally ride a 2000 ACE 750 and love it but I have been riding my girlfriends moms 200 VLX 600 and it's a smooth ride.

She has bags and a shield and I took my girlfriend on it and 55 - 60mph is comfy enough for me.

Without her and 70mph riding is easy.

If you're taller than 5' 8" consider getting some forward pegs. Your back and legs will thank you. I'm looking to get some for my 750.

In conclusion the 600 will take you plenty far and you can hold onto it for years but you might get bored and want to move up in a year or 2.

Welcome to the forum.

Hi Tim, welcome to the forum. I too am a newbie to the forum and to riding. My sister recently got me into riding and she has a 750 so that is what I have been learning on and I am 5' 9" and I feel the 750 is a great size even as my starter bike. My sister has been riding for 7+ years but is smaller framed and shorter so this is probably her bike size for life. She rides with a friend who has a Goldwing 1300 and she can keep up as long as he doesn't go wild so the choice is yours. Enjoy.
