Default Newby Mistake (a very sad day)

Got my new bags installed, walking her back to her parking spot and we fell over. I caught her enough to keep from slamming the pavement, but couldnt hold her from falling. Pinned my leg underneath. No body damage, windshiled got a little scratched near the edges. Knee has a nice rub mark. Coould have been worse I guess. Really sad, actually cried. You see I have waited my whole adult life for this bike. Always had to take care of others first. Had her 10 days, been worried about dropping her since I rode off the lot.

I know, did the same but while riding on the dmv's lot practicing. I didn't get pinned, but the embarrassment was there. Put it behind you, you got a scuff on it, so now relax and enjoy it. It's still a bitch.

let it go, and don't feel bad. i broke a rear turn signal in the garage earlier this year when my bike tipped over. felt stupid for a minute, but i learned to install a new signal. i also learned to be little more careful.

You got that fated first drop out of the way. I managed it in the yard the first week, sort of tweaked the bars a little. I was trying to U turn in the yard to get out the gate and went it went down on it's left side I sort of flung forward off the side. After picking up the bike I pulled the bar back to full left lock and yanked a few times to get things straight. I dug the grass out of a few places while fussing at myself a little (okay, cussing at myself a lot) and felt like an idiot. I then went for a 54 mile round trip to show the bike to my parents.

It sucks, it happens to most, then you get it out of the way so you can move on.

If it makes you feel any better. Back in '81 I bought a brand new KZ650
Off the showroom floor. Rode it over to a buddy's shop. Parked it and
Walked toward the building. I got about 30 feet and I heard this crunch.
Turned around and she had rolled off the kickstand
she had 25 miles on the clock. Broke a turn signal, snapped a lever and
tweeked the bars. That was my very last time I EVER parked a bike in neutral.

I know..........it didn't make you feel any better...actually got a little depressed
myself thinking about it again.....man I loved that bike.

Just a suggestion but you might want to try installing a set of engine guards.

Done that a couple of times myself. Remember, if nobody saw it, it didn't happen. My 1100 Spirit won't fall down now, added a sidecar. Keep on having fun.

We understand Bernie. We really do.

You know, i always say that I don't mind a scratch or dent if there is a good story behind it. Perhaps you need to embellish your story a little:

You could say: "there I was, walking my bike into the garage... And there was this damsel in distress. She was gorgeous and crying for help... Nobody else was around... So I jumped off my bike, changed in the closest phone booth and saved the day!!!"

Or something like that.

Stay safe out there.
