Knock on wood!, my recently purchased 1987 Shadow VT700C, is running fine. Is there any particular thing to be checking, above the general pre-checks before riding. I just rolled over 42,000 miles. No unusual vibrations or noises while riding, had it up to 70 mph on the highway.

Have you changed all your fluids yet? good idea if you haven't already. POs are not always up-front about those things. New oil, filter, air filter, coolant, rear-end oil, check brake fluid. That way YOU KNOW when it was done last. Keep records.

Flushed coolant, oil/filter change, and checked final drive gear. Just a couple of bugs trapped in air filter which was real clean! Still replacing once new one on order is delivered. Battery is a year old. plenty of brake left front and back. Did I miss anything?
