Default Aero or A.C.E

I'm shopping for a bike for my wife's 65th birthday. We both rode when we got married, but she stopped when the kids came along. She has tried a lot of bikes on for size and the 750 Shadow is a perfect match.

Now the question: Should I get an Aero or an A.C.E. I would prefer she have the full fendered bike and she likes that look as well. I have been riding for 60 years, but do not know enough about the 750 Shadows. I've had quite a few Hondas and love the quality. Best quality bike on the road.

Is there any significant difference between the Aero and the A.C.E. versions of the Shadow?? Any advice will be appreciated!

Thanks

It's difficult to search the forum since 3 letter words can't be in the search.
That said an Aero is a slightly newer Shadow, they replaced the ACE.
The ACE is chain drive & the Aero is shaft
ACE is twin carb, Aero is single carb

so there's more to it than looks. The Aero & ACE do have different looks but that would be a personal preference ..

Default 2011 & 2012 Aeros Injected

No more carbs on the new Aeros. FI & start like a dream at all temps. Do not touch the throttle. Just the starter button.

Also, I think you will find more in favor of the shaft drive over the chain.

I love my ace, but the shaft draft and then fuel injection on the new ones would be so nice...

Aero all the way. Might also want to check out a Spirit while you're at it.

we , as in wife and me own both, the a 03 Ace, and a 09 Aero, the Ace is chain drive and has 2 carbs, sits a little taller, wife rides that one with no problem and likes it better than my Aero, but its more a color thing, the Aero is shaft drive and single carb, sits lower, I actully would like the Ace better for riding if it was shaft drive, don't like the chain drive, or maintance it takes, but both bikes are great. the Aero is a daily ride for me with about 100 miles round trip, can't complain about the power or handling on both city streets or interstate. now for my size I would like to have a larger bike I'm 6'1, so somethin g that alows me to stretch out a little, check out my profile have pics there of both pics next to each other

Lot's of aftermarket parts for both, but Aero looks very unique. Although, shaft drive is more torque and less maintenance.

Thanks everyone! It will be the fuel injected, shaft drive Aero - now to find the right price and color!
