Default Getting used to freeways

I had my first taste of freeway riding yesterday. I found it fitting for my 1 week anniversary of purchasing my bike. I found the wind to be fairly intense at around 70 but was able to stay in the 65-70 range for 15 miles each way.
I think I will be investing in a windshield seeing as how I work 40 miles each way from work but I am looking forward to getting alot more seat time now that I have passed this milestone.

Loose fitting jacket does increase the effect of the wind, even at lower speeds. My new (to me) bike has a small windwhield and it does change the wind from hitting me directly. I don't get that "push back" feeling in the chest anymore when getting up around 60. I do get a little more turbilence (sp?) on the sides from it though. I like the windshield and glad it is on there.

I enjoy the wind myself, I don't ride with a shield on any of my bikes, but I guess it's a matter of preference.

There's a lots of shields to choose from, so take a good look around for the right one.

The freeways out here take a little getting used to. But, you'll settle in soon enough. Just keep your eyes open.

Memphis Shades and National Cycle make some pretty nice windshields. I have a Memphis Shades with the "No-Tool Trigger-Lock" mounting system. I can remove/install the windshield in under 30 seconds (and that is when I'm having a slow day). It's nice to have the windshield for longer commutes but also nice to take it off when riding around town.

So Cal freeways can make intresting riding. A windshield, even a small one can make quite a differance at speed. Makes things a bit more aerodynamic, eases wind force on the body. Have fun and stay safe.

A few months ago, I didn't think I'd ever feel the desire to get comfortable on the mid Atlantic super slab. After a few distance rides, I've changed my mind. It didn't take long to get used to, and even the wind isn't bothersome anymore.

I have no interest yet in a windshield, but that would probably be different if I had your kind of commute. Enjoy the riding!
