I've recently purchased an 86 vt1100, about a month ago. And an 85 vt1100 last week. Both need work and I'm new at working on bikes. This forum seems like an excellent place for answers.

I bought my 86 vt1100 about 4 months ago..I've done quite a bit of work to it since, but the best thing I've don't yet has got to be the forward controls I made for it...the stock peg location on these bikes are brutal to the knees for a tall person.
I'm 6'3" with a 38" inseam...so I had to do something to stretch my legs out...current ride: 86 vt1100c previous rides: 93 vt1100c, 91 vulcan 750, cb400f super sport, kx250, xr500, yz 490, xr100

What did you use to extended the controls? I do have an engine guard with pegs they feel a lot better than the stock but it does suck to have to use them for shifting and braking
