go to your local independent motorcycle shop. build your local economy instead of giving your dough to these huge corporations. give the local people a piece of the pie. take care of them and they will take care of you.

you're going to the wrong shops then...but anyways paying a couple bucks more to help out a local is better than giving it to a corporation. and remember when your bike is out of commission, who are you gonna get to fix it? I'm willing to bet your computer won't manually fix it for you.

In my opinion...this is partly what is wrong with America. We don't build our own local economies and support small businesses.

I just bought 24 parts online and saved myself about $200. Sorry, its not worth it to me to buy locally. And actually I fix my own stuff. And guess what, when I have a question, the local shops act like they are to busy to give you a decent answer but this online forum helps me all the time so...I guess the computer does fix my bike.

If the local shop is a well-run business, it IS a corporation.

And not all of the online sellers are massive outfits. A couple of my favorites are actually one-store bike shops that use online sales to keep their doors open.

Yes, buying local can be a good thing. Paying a little extra to help an honest, hard-working local businessman can be a good thing. But not ALL local businesses are owned and run by honest, hard-working people. And not all distant ones are run by corporate crooks bent on sourcing jobs to China.

you replied with a doofus response that i figured you would. you saved $200 bucks but i'm sure you didn't even check with a local shop... the local shops can't answer all your questions because they don't make money from answering questions from you, so you can fix your own bike. there is a difference in helping someone out and giving knowledge away for free. And i somehow knew you would tell me that your computer does fix your bike...haha. This forum is a great source of information, but your computer doesn't manually fix your bike, like i stated in my previous post.

i'm not saying that all local shops are good and deserve business, but most people don't even think about buying locally and giving these businesses a chance.

you may have the knowledge to fix your own bike.. but there are a lot of people out there that don't. not supporting local independent motorcycle shops will eventually cause all of them to fail and go out of business causing those who can't fix their bike to pay big money at dealerships.

Dealerships are local businesses. Not all of them are high cost and/or disreputable. Some even go out of their way to support local riders and even the community. Even though they fly the logo(s) of massive corporations, few of them are actually owned by the corporation(s).
