So, in looking up parts for my 85 VT700, there are sights that don't even list the 700 as an option, but will list the VT500. Are parts interchangable for those two bikes (besides the obvious items like actual engine components...)

As far as I know they are two different chassis and not much will interchange. You might have more luck with trying to interchange the early VT750 parts with your VT700, I think they were pretty much the same bike other than engine size.

Look up the stock part #'s on both bikes. That'll tell you.
