I saw these trunks on eBay. Not sure of the quality as I have never owned one.

I just had to deal with overheating - you still don't have a definitive answer on the fan - is it, or is it NOT kicking in, ever? If not, it will overheat, no matter what else you replace. So, check by letting it idle for 15 minutes - either the fan will start, or overheat light will come on (or better yet, ground it). There's a switch in the radiator itself, that may be faulty.

I did try to jump the fan straight from the battery yesterday, the fan would not kick on. Now I'm stuck. |

When you say OVERHEAT, does it actually spit out fluid or just the light come on? When you did the anti freeze change how much fluid was you able to put in the bike?
The fans on my 2002 Shadow 1100 come on all the time when I'm sitting in traffic, if your has come on you would have heard them. Once you ground the wires if they don't come on then it could be a bad fan.

Welcome. Love the look of the bike. Someone did a nice job accessorizing it, including color. I didn't see if you mentioned you purchased it from a dealer or private party. If a dealer I'd be waiting on their doorstep.

It does not spit overflow out, When I say overheat the bike actually completely shut down while driving, I had to pull over to the side of the road. Any attempt to restart the bike and it wouldn't even turn over. I had to wait for it to completely cool off, 1hr or more depending on temp outside. When I was able to drain and refill the coolant I was able to get the full 2.2 quarts per the manual. I haven't started it yet to let the radiator warm up and see if both the top and bottom are both hot. I am thinking it has to be a flow issue (water pump), as I have already replaced the coolant, fan, fan motor, thermostat, and thermostatic switch. I did buy from a private owner, had no issues first 3 days, then overheated on way home from work. At this point either the wiring of the fan is off or the it's a flow issue. I've always had a little coolant in my overflow reservoir but it's never puked out. |
