before i bought my bike I had only ridden my brother bike for one min. When I bought my first bike i had to ride it 3 hours on the highway with a 3/4 helmet that shook like hell. Made it home and the next day went and got my permit. I would love to get my lisence but here in ms you need either a trailer or someone with a lisence to ride your bike up there for you. i just moved here and dont know anyone or anyone with a msl. not sure what to do but I feel a lot more confident on my bike that i first did. and I agree, the wind at first was SHOCkING how strong it is but after awhile you realize its not going to blow you off.

Bought my first road bike in October...got permit the following weekend; rode as much as possible throughout winter, took motorcycle ohio saftey course in February and got license. I definately reccomend taking the safety course and even an experienced rider can benefit from it.
