First things i did was get a luggage rack and strap on bag, a clock that replaces the cover on the brake reservoir, and brake lights that blink fast at first then slow down and become a solid light. Highway bars are next.

Mustang seat (on order) and then either a fairing or saddlebags.

I just bought my first bike after a 25 year hiatus from riding.
The previous owner had upgraded a few things, exhaust, sissy bar, grips and saddle bags. I just added a windshield but the bags would get my vote for the most useful of the upgrades.

I definitely want to invest in some Vance and Hines or Cobra pipes first but unfortunately exhaust systems are expensive!

The 2003 Shadow vlx600 I bought used has skull mirrors and levers, which are really nice but not really my style, so those will most likely become my first upgrades.

First and foremost I'll need to replace my choke cable, but then I'll focus on upgrading the seat. The seller told me that he tried his hand at reupholstery and he believed that he had "successfully failed." That's up for debate although it's passable for now.

Carb cleaning and a full tune-up is the first for me. Not sure what will be next. Probably whatever to make it more comfortable.
