Hey everyone,
I'm new to cruisers (but not bikes) and I'm looking to pick up one for the first time. I love the reliability and track record of Honda's (CBR fan) and figured I really like the look and design of the Shadow. I've found one locally that I might be intersted in obtaining and was hoping to get a little feedback on the bike itself, thoughts, and advice. I'm completely open to I'd love to hear what you guys think and any wisdom or knowledge you can impart to help me along this journey! Here'e the link to one of the Shadow's I'm considering. Thanks in advance guys! Lance 1997 Honda Shadow ACE |

I'm new to cruiser bikes too, I started years ago with 1970's bikes since that was all i could afford before getting a car. fast forward 15+ years and I bought a a zx10r (saw your comment about cbr's) this past summer, and just brought an 1100 shadow sabre yesterday.
Before getting the sabre I did a lot of research on reasonably priced, large cruiser bikes right before I bought mine...and my short list came down to honda shadows, kawa vulcans or yama v-stars. I've heard the shadow's a pretty solid compared to the rest, but that's just second hand from others. long story short, I'd think for that mileage, the bike you chose there is well priced. I believe the ACE versions of the bike have less HP and torque versus the spirit and sabre versions, just something to keep in mind if that matters to you. |

the 1100 is a good bike. my only concern with this particular one is how long has it been sittin'? it's almost 16 years old and only has 7722 miles. that comes out to only 483 miles a year, if you figure it that way. it could have had the majority of the 7722miles back in the 90's. ya just don't know. i'd ask how long it's been sittin, there can be many problems and pricey things you have to buy to get 'em road worthy again.
