Hello everyone,
I recently bought my very first motorcycle, a 2003 Honda Shadow VLX600 and was hoping I could get more information on my bike and how to safely ride it here on the hondashadow.net forums. If anyone here has experience with owning or riding a bike similar to mine I would love to hear any tips you may have for a new rider. Thanks! Joe Carter

I would start with a MSF rider course - well worth the time and money. Congratulations and good luck!

Thanks DRVMN!
I am definitely looking into taking my MSF course as soon as possible, so hopefully this weekend or the next. Anyone from Arizona recommend any specific training course that they had a good experience with? I have been looking into a few different courses and am unsure which one would be best for me. Thanks! I have the 96 VLX, and they haven't changed much on the rides except a little wiring and went from a double-carb to a single-carb. It's a great ride, just be mindful of cleaning and lubing your chain regularly. Also, watch out for gravel and sand

Ya I figured most of the courses would cover basically the same material.
The only difference I have seen so far is pricing, ranging from $180 - $280. Being the penny pincher I am, I was most likely going to take the $180 dollar course unless anyone had other opinions. Thanks. |

Hey all. I recently purchased a 85 shadow 750 for nice and cheap and because I live in the great white north the riding season is over. I have never ridden before so I have taken it all apart and am polishing all the chrome and aluminum as well as respraying all the tins an amazing color...pics to come shortly. I'm just looking for some advice, maybe a place to find a part or two.
