Hello fellow Honda riders,
I have a few questions about upgrading the exhaust system of a 2003 Honda Shadow vlx600. Would it be better to just upgrade the exhaust tips, or would it be best to purchase a completely new exhaust system if I am looking for a louder sound? Any information from anyone who has upgraded the exhaust system of their 2003 Honda Shadow vlx600 would be much appreciated! Thanks, Joe Carter |

Hole saw mod, ie, using a hole saw, drill out the rear baffles and remove them, then reach way down inside (extension for drill 17") and drill three or so holes in the plates. Good rumble, loud when hard on the throttle,, cheap. Maybe have to adjust the a/f screw if you get some popping on deceleration.
If the results aren't what you're looking for, then spend some $$$$ for the aftermarket pipes.

Thanks for the response. Searching around online I read a bit and watched a few videos about the Hole saw mod technique and unfortunately I don't think its something I am capable of doing myself.
I would love to invest in some nice looking, loud pipes but a couple hundred dollars is hard to justify. I especially like the Cobra or Vance and Hines slashcut style pipes but they run up to $500! Thanks again. |
