Default How to make Sabre 1100 more back friendly

Hello all,

I have a 2002 Shadow Sabre 1100. I also have 18 inches of titanium in my spine.

The two do not want to play well together.

I think I need an old man bike with a fat tractor seat.

I am about the pull the trigger and sell this bike.

Any thoughts to make it more comfortable?

Mustang wide touring seat with backrest. Ultimate seat also makes some good ones. A good seat is worth the money!

I agree with coop ! I have an 07 1100 with a mustang seat cant imagine ridding with out it how about some risers and or different handle bars to get you room to set more upright ? Maybe check the setting on your rear shock and soften them a click or two ??? That's a tall order to fill. Mustang seats are extremely comfy. But the titanium issue is something most folks won't understand. It might come down to trial and error.

also owner of 06 Sabre, have the stock seat with fleece cover, my lower back is also messed up, I havn't bit the bullet yet on aftermarket seat, but found for me a kidney/backsupport belt helps me, keeps me sitting upright and supports my lower back

You can try an aftermarket backrest such as protac. Much cheaper than an aftermarket seat if it don't help.
You may also be able to find sombody in your area that has the seat with backrest that will let you try it out.

Drug stores here sell wide elastic back support belts with velcro .
Helps my back ...... Get a new seat worth the money and mustang or ultimate with back rest.
You can also try an Airhawk inflated seat that helped my tail bone pain and back tried that before I splurged on a new seat.
But the seat was worth it for me and can still add the Airhawk on really bad days.
Changing the setting of the shocks may also help found I was bottoming out on the setting I had it on.

I also occasionally have back pain, especially when riding long hours on the highway. I don't like backrests as they limit your position somewhat.

I ended up getting a Mustang wide touring seat, but a note of caution: it does take several rides for it to break-in. I also removed the stock pegs and installed the OEM Honda floorboards. That alone, made a huge difference, now I can shift my legs as I please. The mustang seat will get you a little higher and a little further back.

I added the Mustang wide touring seat with backrest plus a pair of PhatRisers from Sccotworks to move my bars back about 2". Made a tremendous difference.
