Like the title says, I'm a new guy to this sight, but not bikes.
I picked this bad beast up Friday from a friend and couldn't be happier. Here's my story. ![]() This is my 9th bike, and I am pleasantly surprised with it. I ride as much as possible, and my main bikes are tourers. i had a Goldwing, but I now pilot a Voyager XII. I love the Voyager, but for day to day riding it's too much. As touring bikes go, it's incredible. Needless to say I went on the hunt for a solo bike. By nature I am not a brand loyalist, but I do love HD cruisers (Dyna's and the Deuce's). Since I have four kids, and a hatred for payments, I really was torn. Last year I picked up a NICE 2000 Sportster. Loved the bike, even though I felt it was underpowered and didn't handle well. Well, fate reared it's ugly head in August, and I hit a deer at 11am on my Sporty. The bike faired much better than me, and was rode home that day. I...I broke 5 bones in my left leg(tib-fib and 3 in the foot), so now it is rodded, plus road rash and bruising. The bike has been at my buddies place for a few months, when another buddy offered me this in trade. I thought about it for 5 minutes and figured what the heck. Friday I went and made the swap, it was my first time riding in almost 3 months so I was a bit nervous, but like they say, it all comes back real quick. I have been riding off and on since I was 9, and I wasn't going to let this demon whip me. About the Bike. It's a 2007 750DC, which is modded moderately. It has the forced air intake, Air Bag suspension, Whitewall Avon Venoms, lowered, powdercoated rims, Aftermarket saddle, new lighting, pipes, windshield (which I will be selling) etc... The bike must be a transition bike or the P.O. has done some alterations. I have the integrated tail light, as well as a few other things I can't identify Like I said, I am a HD cruiser guy, and other than that ugly radiator, I absolutely LOVE this bike's looks. It sounds pretty dang good as well. It has the HD Deuce look, but much beefier appearance. And the performance...Man this thing will annihilate my 883 and was taking a buddy's Dyna off the line. I'm not sure what mods have been done, if any. Than there is the handling, this cruiser rides on rails. It will out maneuver the Sporty in the twisties as well. I am really impressed. Now you may wonder why I traded my Sporty, easy enough. It came down to money. By the time I repaired my Sporty, did the engine work(1250 kit) and then made it look the way I wanted, I'd be out another $1500+ dollars. This bike had the look that I wanted. It's hard to believe it's only a 750cc. I am in no way bagging the Sporty as I'll get another, I'm just that impressed with this bike. Now I wouldn't be totally honest If I didn't have complaints. The seat/foot position needs work. I feel it's cramped, and these horrible bars have to go. I got a set of 18" apes to put on it, and then I truly think I'll be in total lust. I'll be totally honest, and tell you I bought this as my bar hopper/cruiser, so looks was 95% of my reasoning. It's nice to be on a bike that gets compliments every time you stop. Makes a guy feel good about his decisions. . Last edited by barncat; 11-11-2012 at 03:59 PM. |
