Hello, I am a motorcycle rider / racer dating back to 1976. My brother wants to sell me his 2004 VT750 Aero. The bike looks like new, has 52,000 miles, too loud for my taste Cobra Exhaust, windshield, leather saddlebags, highway pegs, and maybe a few other things. My brother bought a "Harley" and now wants to sell this VT750 for his loan payoff which is $2150. I think I am going to go get this bike. I have never owned a bike styled like this but thought I'd try it out. If I do not like it, I'm sure I could sell it for a little more that $2150.
Do you guys have any comments or suggestions about this bike? Anything in particular I should look for? Any weaknesses? I already know that I do not like the loud pipes. Maybe I can sell the Cobra Exhaust and find stock exhaust? thanks, Tony p Monroe, NC |

The baffles may have been removed from those Cobra pipes.
Mine were removed by the previous owner but luckily he kept the baffles. I reinstalled them and it sounds better now...to me. BTW, Welcome to the forum. Last edited by Fat Daddy; 11-11-2012 at 08:44 PM. |

Well, I rode the Aero home today, about an 85 mile trip hwy and backroads. The bike is WAY too loud Cobra pipes had NO bafflles, I ordered some a few minutes ago on ebay. Hopefully that will help, I will not ride the bike with straight pipes. If need be I will sell the Cobra pipes and try to find a set of used stock pipes. The rear suspension was so stiff that four times a moderate bump on the highway kicked my butt up off of the seat. The peload on the rear shocks was set two notches up from softest, I backed that down, hopefully that will help. The bike shifted and ran GREAT. I am not sure if the bike was rejetted when the Cobra pipes were installed of IF it would be needed. Gonna wax it, polish it up, check tire pressures, change oil, etc. If the baffles make the crazy loud noise go away, I think I will keep it. If not, I did not get hurt at $2100.
Anything else I need to check out, adjust, tweek? Tony P |
