I purchased my 96 Honda Shadow used. The individual that owned the bike drilled a series of holes aroung the baffle, maybe the size of a dime, and i love the sound. It doesnt sound just loud like when you pull the baffels out, but has a really nice sporty sound that i love. Dont have any idea how he did it, but it looks very professional.

I don't expect drivers see me and even if they do, I don't expect them to yield to me when I have the right-of-way.
For drivers, it's the "I've got the bigger vehicle, you'll get hurt, I won't" mentality. Best thing to do is position your bike where it is easier for them to see you and leave yourself room to get away from them. At the shopping center near my house I can't tell you how many times I've been looking at a drivers eyes, knowing they're looking right at me and they still pull onto the road in front of me expecting me to swerve around them. |

In town, I tend to make sure that I am close enough to that idiot (about to turn into my lane)(on-coming left turn, cross-traffic right turn, passers-by). I've noticed that sometimes they think twice if I look like I'm going to take them out before they do me.
I cannot be responsible, if anyone uses my tactics. Sent from my iPhone using Motorcycle.com Free App

I wouldn't rely on your pipes to get you any positive attention from cagers. But if you're looking for a more pleasant sound, a lot of people mention the hole-saw mod for removing your baffles. What kind of Shadow do you have?

always gotta remember buddy your pipes are facing backwards so they wont hear your up in front of you anyways. as far as just for personal sound i would just drill a few 1in or 1/2 in holes in the baffle itself
your horn is your friend and a horn is what cages are trained to listen for since its what they have themselves
