Default New guy that has been before

Recently the motorcycle bug has bitten me more than I can fight off. It's been an on and off again struggle for the last 10 years haha. I've always worked on custom vehicles, but recently I've lost interest so I've parked the truck in the garage and decided why not finally get a bike like i've always wanted. I've been on the fence about so many models but think i've finally made up my mind on a shadow. It's just a matter of deciding whether new or used. Something about the words warranty and fuel injection I just love. Being in Louisiana you can ride all year without any real headaches. Well just introducing myself since I discovered I've been a member on here since 05 and really didn't remember being here before. So looking forward to being an active member.

You may have set a record for "lurking"!

I'm in the same situation...was away from riding for many years, and then the fever came back with a vengence. I have no regrets in choosing a Shadow for my ride.

Have fun and ride safe.

Lol yeh that's what I was thinking when i went to register for the forum and saw my emailed was already registered. A couple of nearby dealers have late model aero 750's for around 5k. But man a new phantom or spirit really call to me

As you have not been riding, I suggest you go used for your first bike. If you make a good deal when you purchase your bike, you'll break even or at least not loose too much when you sell it.

Based on my experience, the bike you buy now may not be the one you have in a year or two. The Shadow may float your boat now, but who's to say that a Triumph Bonneville, or a Honda CB1100, or a Kawasaki Vulcan 900 won't catch your fancy. If you buy new and make a change you'll get creamed by the depreciation. Believe me, I know from first hand experience.

I know what your saying about warranty but all bikes are pretty good these days, especially Hondas. So I heartily recommend a late model Shadow. Ride it for a while and see what you think. What I'm riding now is nothing like what I got four years ago when I got my motorcycle endorsement.

Good luck with your search!

Are the new shadows fuel injected

My wifes guzzi if fuel injected and becuase I wrench both bikes that makes me happy - also I get to ride both - the guzzi has this cross frame motor that wants to torque right when you give it the gas, so one must be careful in a hard right curve not to eat dust

My 1100 (2012 C2) shadow is not , and so I cleaned the carb last winter - was easy to get everything off - but seemed like a rubiks cube getting her back in the frame, but it worked out fine and runs better now

HA! I thought I was a member but discovered I wasn't! It's hard to get bikes out of your blood! I've sold bikes several times, thinking I was done riding but that empty spot in the garage just keeps working on me! It's bee a couple months since the last one and I'm right back at it!
