Been searching for a shadow 1100 for awhile, looked at one yesterday a 2004 shadow sabre 1100 with 15,000 miles on it. The bike is in good shape stock except for the slip on exhaust.I took a ride on it seemed to be fine(a little cold blooded at first maybe due to the Upstate NY weather) and perhaps it needs a little richer jetting due to factory settings and the slip ons??? Was wondering if $3000 is a fair price to pay.It has original exhaust, plus slip ons, windshield,Mustang seat-sissy bar and original seat,it's in good shape no leaks et. I know these are a little underpowered and there are limited mods that you can do for performance. Just wondering what you guys Think as far as price and the reliability of these machines-problems et. Regards David

Sounds like a good deal to me, I paid $2500 for a 2002 sabre 1100 with 6600 miles on it a few months back.

Sounds like a fair deal! I looked around awhile and found some for $2500 with 30K miles and not much for extras! Saw some for $5000 with 10K to 15K miles and a few extras! I ended up in the middle on price with an 04,newer tires,$1500 in extras added within the past 6 months, fresh fluids and plugs and 8500 miles.

I've been pricing used Shadows in North Texas for several weeks and the combination of age (not that big a factor) miles (good for '04) and extras, I would consider it a pretty good deal. I'm currently shopping for a VLX 600 but if I can find something similar to yours I think I might have to move on it.

The 4 gears and low displacement make it buzzy on the highway, and a handful of other things that can make it hard to live with. It's a great bike all around, but if you're looking to upgrade I would look beyond a VLX. |

My 1100 dyno'd at 58 hp at the rear wheel.
For contrast, a 69 cb 750 four makes 69. A newer 600 cc sport bike makes 120 A 96 inch hd twin cam makes 65. Now the vt1100 also makes like 80 ft lbs of torque, which is respectable. It's a decent cruiser but I would personally like more power.. |
