How often to change oil?

The manual for my 06 Aero says 8,000 miles or 12 months.

That may be indicating an engine problem. My oil at 3k is golden as it when it. At 5k it is a darker color but even at 8k it is still not black. What oil are you using? Have you tried an analysis?

I've always done 5K with syn oil and have run lotsa bikes (all Hondas) up over 100,000 miles with never an engine problem, but did stay current on the other maintinence items.

You can't really tell if your oil needs changing by looking at it!! The detergents in the oil are designed to clean and suspend dirt. It's the detergent thats black not the oil. Unless you have something wrong with your engine just go with the mfg. recomendation.
