This summer I purchased the newest motorcycle I have ever owned. I bought a 2006 VT750CA. Reasonably low mileage, came with the touring package and no other bells and whistles.

At first look, I was going to pull the hard bags and windshield. The 60 mile ride home when I picked it up was cold and wet, the windshield made the ride a lot more enjoyable. It stayed. I never got around to removing the leather covered hard bags either (thankfully).

About a month ago I hit a deer coming home around midnight out in the country. Nothing I could of done to prevent it. My wife, who was following in the car right behind me swears the deer went under my front wheel. It tried to stand as I was halfway over, and the bike went over. The bags, now crushed, saved a lot of damage to the bike. After a flying trip to the hospital to make sure nothing was broken, my wife rode the bike home for me. A few twisted parts but nothing affecting rideability.

I walked away with only minor road rash to my knee, didn't even rip the denim I might add. And, the bike is sitting at the shop having new parts installed thanks to insurance.

All in all, I am a satisfied Honda owner that is glad to be a part of this forum with other Honda owners. It is nice to trade ideas and stories.

Keep the shiny side up.
