Default MS Lowers vs Fork Deflectors

Alright guys, can someone explain to me the difference between Lowers and Fork Deflectors?

Lowers
Fork Deflectors

Are fork deflectors just bigger versions of lower? Are they supposed to be used in conjunction with each other?

And for the sake of eliminating buffeting w/ a windshield, are lowers sufficient or are fork deflectors better?

Thanks in advance for the help

Bump...was there an answer to this question? I've just ordered a MS Batwing with 12" screen and deflectors were part of the package. They hang off the bottom of the fairing as I understand. Do I now need lowers or fork deflectors to assist with buffeting?

Cheers

Pretty much the same thing.....Lower fork deflectors. Whatever you care to call them, they are an added wind screed that goes below the main windshield or fairing.

There are a few different styles of lower. Should you add a set to your shield? Depends on whether or not you experience severe buffeting with the main shield. I say get the main shield and see how it works before you pop for the lowers.

I have Memphis Shades lowers and they do help with the buffeting - it's almost completely gone. I like the style of the fork deflectors and may look into a set of them as long as they use the same mounting hardware.
