I've always mounted my bike from the kickstand side (you don't have to worry about the exhaust (on mine) and you can catch the bike if something should happen. Recently I saw a video saying you should do it from the other side so you can hold the front brake. What side do you do?

I jump on like Little Joe mounted his horse on Bonanza,,
Seriously, either side really, pipes or no,,depends on my approach, eh.

Normally I mount from the left (kickstand side). I grab the handle bars and hold the brake. Then lift kickstand once I have the bike balanced under me. This is actually how they said to do it at the MSF course I attended.
Every once in a while I mount from the other side, but it's pretty much the same thing.

It's bad juju to mount from the other side. It allows the gremlins to sneak by the bell.
Seriously, its a matter of convenience, nothing more. I do often joke that a true rider can lift his right leg higher than his left. Sent from my MB886 using Motorcycle.com Free App

Always from the top.
I mount from the left except when it's in the shed. There isn't enough room in there.
