There are 2 kinds of riders, those who have gone down and those that will go down. Now your in the second one. My riding buddy is 83 years young, he rides a BMW 1300 GT and I doubt that many other riders can keep up with him on a mountain road. His kids and grand kids used to tell him to stop riding but he never did. He rides about 3 times a week and his rides are anywhere from 150 miles to 250 miles on a day ride.
We and our wives have been in every state except Alaska, Hawaii and North Dakota on motorcycles. All I can say is be careful, ride safe, watch for slippery roads and maybe on your next bike you might think about ABS brakes

I just got my bikes a few months ago. It had been almost 30 years since I rode a bike, but decided it was time again. I quit because as my wife put it, I had little kids to think about. Now my kids are grown, so they can worry about themselves. My daughter went off when she heard I was looking for a bike. She told me about a friend she lost on a bike. I reminded her that I had been a police officer and lost 2 friends at that job and then lost my career to a back injury on the job. As I told her, when it is my time, I will be going anyway. Until then I will take the precautions I feel are needed, but am going to enjoy what time I have left. In less than a week I had 2 bikes and they now leave me alone about them.
