Hi, I have a 98 1100 ACE and want to make it into a bobber. I need help regarding making parts or websites that can help me get parts.
How or where can I get parts to cover the top frame below where I want to install a solo springer seat? Also where can I purchase a springer seat, blacked out rear shocks or parts to turn it into a hard tail. Can anybody tell me if turning it into a hard tail is worth it? Thanks |

Im Just curious to .. Is the Shadow in really bad shape ? If its not and you never built a Bobber before maybe try a Different bike thats already crappy and save the Shadow ..?? Shadow Ace aint a bad looking bike stock ..Maybe look for a Old Yamaha XS650 or a Virago 750 They already have a soft tail that looks like a hard tail ..Lots of Guys bobb those old 650 Yammys and they look sharp .Theres actually a Video on You tube of a guy converting one into a hard tail frame ..

There is quite a few bobber projects on the forums where you can get lots of info, AcedIt has a great thread on his project, nothing wrong with bobbing a Shadow, there is a million of them out there..
ScootMods has forward controls, Blue Collar Bobbers has quite a few kits for seats and fenders etc. Also Cruiser Customizer has a ton of after market parts. Mostly just Google is your friend. Good luck and post your progress... |

![]() Not sure the exact look you are going for, but here is a 97 1100 ace I turned into a bobber. The seats are the easiest to fine as there are numerous variations available on eBay. I don't use springs with mine Bc I kept the suspension stock. Vht epoxy paint can give you those blacked out shocks for the cost of $7 for a can of the paint. Hey all thanks for the tips. My 1100 ACE wasn't in too bad a condition but after purchasing it new in 98 and having put 67K miles on it and now stored, un-ridden in the garage for the past 3 years, I need a change. I've been googling a lot but see very little on bobber projects for the 1100 ACE.
Deadshadow; that's the look I'm aiming for with a little tweak here and there. My bike now is on a stand, wheels and fenders off as well as the tank and seat. I pulled the carbs out and first thing I need to do is rebuild them. They've been rejetted with a cobra kit when fairly new. Any ideas if there are any rebuild kits? I'll try and post pics soon. |
