Default Splitting lanes in CA

How does everyone in CA feel about splitting lanes and what's the best way to get a car to move over and share the lane.

There was just a discussion on this topic. Seem that most open road riders would never split lanes. California riders all say they do it only in traffic. I'm in the inland empire area an traffic can be crazy. I split lanes till about 30mph then merge in.
In regards to getting cars to move over, good luck with that. I just stay right behind them in the middle of the lanes and wait for them to move over. Usually, they will move after a bit or the guy in the next la e will move over enough to let you pass. Just remember to be safe.

There is no significant traffic where I live, it's not an issue.

My steal toe boots tempt me at times to "knock" on the doors of cars. I don't do it though. I just don't understand why people don't get the "share the road" signs here in Los Angeles.

what a great question! splitting lanes is certainly a must here in san diego. if I am on the road before 9am or after 330pm traffic is horrid. I always pop into the carpool lanes so theres a big gap between the double yellow. Most a holes arent civil enough to simply turn their wheel for me but youll have to be aggressive if you want to make good time. My pipes are pretty loud so a good rev will get attention if i get stuck and i have dual lights so i point them up with my brights on to warn the cages im coming.

Just another reason why cagers don't like motorcycle riders that split lanes.
Splinting lanes in Calif is legal, you can go 10 MPH faster than the flow of traffic. BUT if a cop wants to give you a ticket he can for excessive lane changes, changing lanes without signaling, and a few other things they can think of. If you are going to do it be careful.
