So I am replacing the pulse generator on my 1995 Honda Shadow 1100 and need advice on removing the clutch assembly to reach the bolt that goes to the pulse generator. It is held in by snap rings. Does it take a special wrench to take the retainer nut out? If anyone has any knowledge of this style bike, please respond.
I don't have the same bike but a lot of guys here have mentioned a special socket with 6 protruding lugs to remove the special nut. If it isn't a regular 6 point or 12 point nut you need that socket.
If you are discussing the clutch center: it is held in place by a staked - type lock nut and you need to unstake it by grinder or drill. When reassembling you will need a new lock nut and stake it with a metal punch. Might as well go buy one now and you can compare the two. The lock nut is 12 point 30 mm. Torque is 100 N.M or 72lb/ft
