I've got a similar issue. I tested compression and am low in the front, down to 34 psi, my rear cyllinder is around 125 psi. I have no leaks anywhere except a small coolant leak between the cylinders (I've ordered parts to fix this). It seems to clear up when I hit the highway or give it some heavy throttle. It'll still go 85 on the hwy and seems to getup and go when I hit it. But when it idles or I keep throttle down it doesn't always fire. You can really feel the difference feeling the exhaust of each cylinder. But again when I hit the gas it mostly clears up and misses sometimes. I'm not sure whats going on.

This problem you`re having "don`t ring no bells!" with me...
Have you done a compression check and verified low compression, or it "just acts like" low compression on one cylinder???
My VT750 had holes in the diaphrams in the top of the carbs, it acted somewhat similar to your symptom, but it never did straighten out and run correctly...UNTIL I swapped diaphrams, they were dried, cracked and full of holes which allowed too much air in the cylinders... 2 @ $104 each??? bad memory...
This symptom only got worse, NOT better, at all...
Post this up on the tech forum and see what other folks have to say...
    Good Luck,

Has anyone had a honda shadow you go to start it and one of the cylinders have no or very low compression, continuous cranking and you can hear it pick it up and then starts on the good cyinder and then clears up , its like a lifters pump up , its rarely and it can be from short or long rides, its got 46000 miles on it and the previous owner had the same problem.
