The start button on the right has a two pole contact. the light appears to be the always closed circuit keeping the light on & When you push to crank the bike the light circuit breaks to save power to crank bike with the open circuit. When you release button it returns back to close light circuit (On) I used a eraser to clean contacts & lite coat of dielectric grease to protect. Working great now! Takes 15-30 minutes

    Hi bldrums,
Those bars were stock on that model in 2003 and they were part of what attracted me to the bike. I have an aging back and have found that sitting upright is the least comfortable riding position for me. It transfers every bump right into my back. Leaning forward even slightly greatly lessens the impact I feel on bumps. I definitely don't lean "super bike" style, though. I don't think I could take that for more than an hour. Handling wise, I've always been most comfortable with lower straighter and slightly narrower bars and I've never ridden enough with pull back bars to know how they handle.

Thanks for the compliments! The bike came to me 'as-is' so I didn't really have to do too much to her looks. The saddle is a Mustang, but I don't know what model number. I think you can go to the Mustang site, put in info about your bike and it will tell you what saddles will fit. If I remember right, there were only three or four, so finding it shouldn't be too hard. I really like the Mustang saddle, I rode a few Hondas with the stock seat and didn't like it very much!
The saddle bags are from River Road. Again, I don't know the model. I haven't looked at very many bags, but these seem kind of cheap to me. The material is pretty thin, and the right bag is deformed on the bottom because it sits so close to the upper exhaust pipe. But I've heard that's pretty common on Shadows with stock exhaust, no matter what bags you buy.
Again, thanks for the compliment. The wife and I are pretty proud of Lady Blue.

    Ride safe and ride often,
    HoosierDave

NOOOO .... I broke the LR turn signal housing but everything still worked. I removed the assembly , repaired the crack in the housing and now:
    No rear turn signals.
Rear light but no brake light.
Front signals light up but don't flash.

    * i know if i aint broke dont fix it * but it was broke.

Well I read enough posts about the hole saw mod that I felt confident ( ish ) I bought a 2007 Spirit w/ 1600 miles on it about a week ago so I am really noob. Anyway, I did the mod , it was easy and omg it makes the bike sound like I think it should !! AWESOME !! ( why the heck did they put those resonators in there to begin with !) Thanks to all that posted that super mod, took about 15 minutes and didnt cause any problems.
