Either will work fine, The bare metal is just to make it easier to attach, The neg is just a wire to the frame so either one will have the same connections. I just put it right on the battery.

I'd personally look at the 1100's, The spirit is the only one geared taller and is great on the freeway, Real comfortable doing 80 and has plenty of spare power to get you out of the way if needed....
