I think I gotta idea on a fix that MAY work, but would like to replace it...

Since it's spot welded on to begin with, take it to a professional welder after you clean it back to shiny metal which will save him a lot time in cleaning it up. He can hit it with a MIG or TIG welder and make it good as new, and probably better. If you have everything ground back to bare metal, he can do it in less than a minute. Offer him a fifth of good whiskey for his troubles.

That's what I would do, anyway. Actually, I've done it many times over the years, because even though I have all kinds of welding equipment, I suck at actually welding things.

My sidecover is plastic...
I could "weld" it back together, IF I had the piece what broke off...

Thanks anyhow,

Capt look through this thread from the Valk forum and see if it helps. A lot of the side covers are made of ABS.

Cool

What did I do to my bike today?

I sadly watched it get smaller in my rear view mirror as I drove the car to work. Why?

Because I spent 3 hours detailing it yesterday evening due to a great forecast for today. Sun, Sun SUN!
Only to wake up to RAIN, RAIN, RAIN! What really pissed me off was when I got 10 miles north of my house, there was not a cloud in the sky...

I normally would have ridden anyway, but Trinity was SO clean and shiny!

Got it out for a major spit-shine in preparation for its first 2-tank road trip on Sunday. Taking it on a backroad tour through my roots, ending up at the cemetery way out in the country where my dad is buried. He passed 2 years ago on Father's day, so I'm going to share my latest project with him.

Trimmed down my windshield some more today.

I took off about 2 inches Monday, and then another 2 inches off today.
I wanted to just lower the windshield, but my aux lights and bottom of the windshield hit, so only options were remove the aux lights or cut the windshield, and I like the aux lights too much.

I tried riding with no windshield but did not like the full force of the wind hitting me in the chest on the highway.

The first 2 inches did not change the airflow much (still going over my head), and the top of the windshield was now right in my line of sight, so I took off another 2 inches. Have not gone to ride yet, but from just sitting on it, my line of sight seems to be clear, and am hoping to just get the air hitting the top of my helmet (need some airflow to the helmet vents to get my head cooled off some now that the temp is hitting 100°F).

I also washed and waxed it today since it was covered with fine plastic from cutting the windshield.
