I picked up my painted parts and started assemballin the bike
You have to get back out and do 1 more mile, 100 just sounds better!:grin2:
Yeah it was just flooded. Kind of weird though. The VLX has to use the choke to start. The VTX cannot use the choke to start.Obviously you got the starting issue worked out.
Maybe it's set up to run rich and it's just too warm for the choke. Just for giggles yesterday I started mine cold without the choke. It was about 50* and she started right up and idled. Not smooth as silk mind you, but idled on it's own just the same. Accepted throttle after about 15 seconds and I was ready to go. In the past I just started it cold, winter or summer with a bit of choke like I had to do with the vlx.Yeah it was just flooded. Kind of weird though. The VLX has to use the choke to start. The VTX cannot use the choke to start.
Understand.I was gone longer than I suggested I'd be, as it was. One more mile could have been costly.
Why no choke on VTX? It's not recommended to use much if at all when AF screw us set properly, but, I used mine for a few seconds when it was cold... But after the AF screw was set, 2 wide open throttle blips then hit the key and she normally purred like a kitten.Yeah it was just flooded. Kind of weird though. The VLX has to use the choke to start. The VTX cannot use the choke to start.
Yesterday when I started it up I gave it just one quick twist and then hit the key and it fired right up. Ran and idled well.2 wide open throttle blips then hit the key and she normally purred like a kitten.

All that beautiful work and you sold it? Too small now? Want bigger bike? It's been awhile since I haven't had a bike. It kinda sucks. Leaning towards an ST, but got a Blackbird I want to look at first. I fell in love with one a few years ago. If not it will definitely be an ST 1300.

THIS is why Tom and I had discussed stopping half way there or so, and arriving the next day. Hell, driving 500 miles in a car in a day sucks IMO, let alone on a bike. The 8 hour ride to the Dragon made up my mind for me. I have been thinking about it for a couple of years, but that trip set it in stone. Bike did great, but my back was sore for a week! I need something smooth and quiet.
Sounds good, happy shopping! The 8 hour ride to the Dragon made up my mind for me. I have been thinking about it for a couple of years, but that trip set it in stone. Bike did great, but my back was sore for a week! I need something smooth and quiet.
Haha, happy buying soon I bet! I know why he is upgrading, and his comment about loud, his bike sounded great, but there is no way 8 hours could have happened with my butt.Sounds good, happy shopping!
I don't think I could do 8 hours on any bike, I even have to stop every 2-3 hours in a car. Between my back and knees I take lots of stops on long trips and my wife also, she can't stand being in the car too long. Long trips are usually made in 400-500 miles at most and that's really pushing it and sharing driving. Bike for me about an hour at a time then a quick stretch, my wife about 1/2hour and stretch so far.Haha, happy buying soon I bet! I hope he finds a steal on his next love!
