My first ride with the Patriot Guard Riders (PGR)

Yesterday, I was finally able to make it to my first mission with the Patriot Guard Riders. You may know them, without actually knowing who they are; they are the bikers that basically told the Westboro Baptist Church to "F*** OFF!" Yesterday we escorted the Wounded Warriors to the VFW for a dinner and whatnot. I felt very welcomed, and it was nice gathering with people I can relate to (vets). Cool People! Can't wait to participate again!

Aren't they an amazing group? I'm guessing you have served in the military as most of them have. I joined in late '12 and have gone on 10 missions so far and as one who has not served, it is a humbling and rewarding experience to ride with them. They are totally accepting and it is all about those being honored and not those honoring them. They are 100% true to their mission statement in my experience.

Anger and worry are the two greatest wastes of time known to man. Aside from television, of course.

Yeah, they're a great group! Yes, I am currently assigned as an Army recruiter. I found these guys and I got along with em really well, most are older vets; civilians are harder to relate to, after serving for so long. So, its the closest thing I got out here to an organization. I like being able to help other soldiers families as well, its a good gig, for a good cause!

I've been in the PGR for a little over two years.

They are an outstanding and dedicated group of people.

I'm not a veteran, yet I was made to feel welcome from the moment I arrived for my first mission.
