Oops...been away for a while and did not see this until today. I should have known what 98G was, because a good friend with whom I still stay in touch was a 98G in Cambodian. And I should have been able to figure out what RU stood for because my own DD-214 says I was a 98C2LBU (Burmese).

Loved every minute, and would do it again.
I served in the U.S. Army. Unfortunately I broke my right femur on the one rope bridge in my 5th week of basic. They honorably discharged me, I tried to reenlist when Desert Storm broke out but I was told that I would need a medical waiver for my leg injury. Then I was told that the only waivers they were issuing were for flat feet. Needless to say I was not happy. I was wanting to serve when so many did not and they would not take me.
Many thanks to those that have served!!! I wish that I could have done more.
On a lighter note I now serve in the Confederate States Army, Alabama Division of Reenactors, 6th Alabama Cavalry Co B. And the Federal Army, Alabama Division of Reenactors, 10th Indiana Cavalry, Co F. Yeah, I know its not the same but at least I am keeping history alive and honoring those that did serve and gave the full measure.
Just hit my 13 yr mark on the 6th of this month in the Army. Have just under 7 yrs left til I am done. If everything goes as planned I'll be retiring by the time I'm 38. Thank you to all my Brothers in Arms for your service and to those and their families that have paid the ultimate sacrifice. God Bless.
