Worked on it some more - finally got the carburetor off the bike, and now to get it cleaned up. That was a pain in the ass! Fortunately, my 4 year old son was at daycare when I finally got it removed, otherwise he probably would have learned some new cuss words lol

So the carb has been removed, rebuilt, reinstalled (after much frustration and cursing). Still running into issues w it stalling out. Thoughts? Ideas? Short of pushing the damn thing in the road and saying screw it?

Well I wouldn't say screw it after all that you've been through together. It seems to be that it may be a faulty ignition coil or a timing issue. But i am just getting started on my build so I am learning a lot right now. it idles okay? Is it only when putting it under a load? uphill etc.?

Lol oh itís tempting to but I will not let this damn bike get the better of me.

When you go to start moving and put it under load it will stall out. Idles just fine. You can even throttle up in neutral just fine. Just seems as soon as you try to put it in gear and it goes under a load it will stall. One thing a buddy of mine suggested just a few moments ago when I was picking his brain, was to make sure there wasnít slack in the throttle cables from when I reattached them to the carb. I thought I had them ďtightĒ but gonna double check to make sure there isnít any excess slack. Prob gonna do the same to the clutch cable since I recently replaced that as well.

Is your battery staying charged? If it draining you could have a faulty stator.

If you have a voltmeter I would check the producing volts when running. it should read somewhere around 14V at 3K RPM if the stator is working right. At least that would eliminate the possibility.

You said in the opening post... "A project I am looking forward to, as this is my first bike"

Have you tried letting someone who already knows how to operate a motorcycle try riding it?

Lol I have considered operator error as part of the problem (and partly may be) Although itís the first one I have owned I have ridden dirt bikes etc, as well as it has been ridden around the neighborhood on test drives as it was being brought back to life.
