I've never ridden side by side and don't think I ever will. Well... I might consider it if it were Ponch or John.

Sounds like a couple of real gits.. Don't know if I would let people pass in built up areas though.. Or where there are intersections or turn-ins..

Usually, when that kinda thing occurs with me, we are on long open stretches of highways.. It's one of those things to where, if it can happen, it usually will eventually, so I tend to limit my risk as best I can when it comes to things like that.

Ive always thought it was illegal in Canada, most people here ride staggered leaving a bike length or two between, sidebyside only if you need to talk for a few secs.

Only maybe 2 peeps I will trust to ride at speed sidebyside, Canyon and my buddy Hutty, they both have mad skills and know me and my skills!
But, we don't do it regularly, normally it's is staggered formation unless we are in twisties, then it's single file line with larger spacing that regularly used.
And remember at hwy speeds you need a lot more space even staggered! Also take into account the bikes in front may be better equipped for stopping than you, with my dual disc upfront and truly knowing how to use rear brakes, I can stop a whole bunch faster than you would expect!

I prefer to ride alone but if I'm with one or more riders I want a staggered formation otherwise I'll ride in the very back so I can see anything happening in front of me and react accordingly. Safety first always.

Side by side? Staggered? I just don't do the group ride thing.
Of course, I have only one friend with a MC that I can ride with; I don't think 2 bikes is much of a group though.

When all think alike......no one thinks very much.

I'm with you Vito I hate the group ride thing I tried it once and never felt safe or comfortable not knowing what other riders are going to do or how much riding experience that have or how much they've had to drink. Not good.

I ride!!!
If there`s a benefit with many riders, I ride...
If there`s a friend or group of friends who wants to ride, I ride...
Back in the mid 70s I rode 300 miles several years running, to meet up with 2,000+ to ride, I ride...
If I see the sunset, and feel like a ride, I ride

Side by side, staggered, single, I ride
