which back tire to buy

Time for a new back tire. I put a ME 880 on the front 15,000 miles ago and was thinking that since it's been such a good tire and still has plenty of tread left to put the same tire on the back. I found one at Amazon for 158.00 with free shipping. Can anyone recommend something better? thanks

My Michelin Commander II's have done fine for me. You might want to check them out.

Motorcycle Super Store has always given me good deals. I purchased Pirelli MT66's for just over $200.00 delivered to my door.

I bought front & rear Kenda kruze last September and I now have 6,000 miles on them and they still look new. The Honda dealer made me a good deal on them about $15.00 more than I could get them online. Not sure about in your area but around here most of the dealers and tire folks charge more for mounting and balancing if you don't purchase the tires from them. Of course if you mount your own then the cheapest price would win. Also your riding style will help dictate which tires you need. Me, I'm not an aggressive rider by any means and never get on the interstate, not scared of it but going the back way I just can take my time and enjoy the ride. All of my riding is suburban/rural with a little bit of city riding thrown in.

My vtx has had me 880s for 14000 miles, they have plenty of tread left! Go with the metzeler!

I have run ME880, Michelin Commander II and now just fitted the Pirelli night dragon

Mich last longer than the 880 but 880 was better in the wet, 880 wore out the center faster where as the Mich kept its round shape.

Night dragon is good but still near new so cant say how it compares wear wise.

888 doesn't do the size I run but also gets a good rep, lasts longer than the 880

Do you ride in rain and at what pace? if not I would go 888 or commander II or maybe P MT66as they last longer

wet and want better traction wet 880 and night dragon are supposed to have the edge but 880 wears faster, probably night dragon does to.... will tell in time

From what I gather the night dragons are a more performance oriented than the others listed, so millage is expected to be less than others. That said I have a set of Night dragons in the garage waiting to go on to my bike as soon as a few more things come in.

However and excellent all around tire I would suggest would be the commander II's great millage and dry traction, but like said there are better tires for the rain.

My favorite tire! Never had any issues with it in the rain.
