2012 shadow spirit overfilled tank?

If I overfilled my tank (filled at little past the end of the neck on the tank while standing up) and parked it outside could this damage anything if it expands and overflows or is there an overflow on the bike to prevent damage?

Awesome, thanks. I typically don't fill it then park it but I was at the Wawa already so I thought why not top it off. Rose it the 1/2 mile home and parked it to go to work. Then realized, oh crap lol.

If you parked it ON the sun, then yes. You could have a fire.

No, you will not have a fire because it's parked in the sun and it's kinda warm outside.

I do it all the time , full to the cap , parked in the sun shortly after........never seen an overflow yet.

You might have filled it to the brim, but there is room in the tank. The filler is not the high point on the tank so there is an air space above that. Leaves room for the minimal expansion. And remember, the only stupid question is the one that is not asked.

I've noticed that. Every time I park on the sun my bike spontaneously combusts. I thought it was because it is red and hot.
