Big Road Trip Planned

Hey gang, The family is off on our big road trip (have not had one in over two years). We leave Sunday morning for the great big ditch (Grand Canyon, Bryce, Zion and other area parks) Father In-Law arrives at our place this evening (he is riding out from Kansas City area to join us).

The trip will be about 10 days and around 1800 miles.

Pictures will be available when we return!

Here is a link to the over all plan...

Have a safe and wonderful time! I'm a little jealous, I lived in Las Vegas for a time when I was younger (pre-motorcycle days) and spent alot of time visiting those parks. Zion especially, and have always wanted to go back there on two wheels. Can't wait to see some pics from your trip! Have fun!

We just completed this trip 2 weeks ago and it fabulous. There are some special treats so here they are.

The ride through Glen Canyon north of Mexican Hat, UT is great.

Bryce Canyon... Be sure to hike down the Queen's Garden Trail and back up the Navajo Trail past 2 bridges. It is more of a short walk than a hike and it will be a highlight of the trip.

Zion. Go a few miles west to the park entrance at Springdale to the town of Virgin. As you enter Virgin you will see a sign for the Kolob Reservoir. This is a 20 mile ride in and out of Zion NP through beautiful diverse scenery to the lake at about 8200' It is a 2-lane motorcycle road and... well, just do it!

SR 12 between Bryce Canyon and Torrey, UT is a great ride. The first 20 or so miles is ordinary but the ride across the Hoggs Back down into Boulder, UT is spectacular. From there to Torrey you climb to nearly 9500 feet withbeautiful views of Capital Reef off to the left.

An added benefit? It is all 2-lane road with little traffic. Enjoy

I was in that area last weekend going home from Denver.

May I suggest two things:
First, make an early morning ride to the Grand Canyon and watch the sunrise, its unbelieveable.
Second, when your heading west on US160, hang a right at US191 and then a left on US163. This will take you through Monument Valley. I garauntee you this will be worth the side trip. US 163 will connect with US 160 again at Kaytena Az. Also, if you find a HP Photosmart M517 digital camera or at least the memory card out there I give you 50 bucks for it.

Any have a fun and safe trip.
