I'm having a little trouble and wondering if anyone knows
The previous owner of the bike I just bought put some 1” dia. drag bars on it. The controls don’t seem to line up right at least on the ones he was able to get back on there.
When I search for bars on a 93 shadow VT1100 I keep getting sent to 1” bars. It just seems like they are wrong. There’s a gap at the clamps and then the ingnition controls won’t seem to make it around the bar to sit properly.
Does anyone know if the 1993 VT1100 had a 7/8 bar OEM and if so what year did they switch to a 1”bar? I think what’s happening is that the catalog isn’t going back to 1993.
Thanks for any help.

Your '93 does require 1" bars. Are sure the controls are stock?

Nope. I’m not sure. I don’t have a lot of information. The controls on the throttle side were hanging off the bike. Any the throttle sleeve is broken. The left side are on it.

Here's a pic of my son's '94 which has the same controls as yours should have. I'm not so sure the stock controls would fit a drag bar well with the angle of the clutch/brake reservoirs being what they are. The new bars in the pic came from JP cycles.

Yeah they look the same. I’ll have to find whatever is hanging it up. The bar doesn’t fit the bike well but at least I know where to begin. Thanks again.

That's just a protective sleeve to protect the chrome until installed.

I was talking about the style. I just ordered one very similar.
I think I figured it out though. There’s a tab on the control housing which I assume was in a hole or dimple in the original bar to keep it from slipping. I think if I punch a dimple in the nbar after lining it up it should go on okay.
Thanks for the help.

I had to drill the new bars to accommodate the dimple on the controls. Some just grind the dimple off the controls. Apparently the clamp will hold on it's own.
