Cheap hand guard/ wind protector

OK, so now that it is getting colder, I am sick of my hands being cold, even with my "good" winter gloves.

Most of my riding when really cold is short, so heated gloves are not really something I am looking for, so I figured if I could keep some of the wind off my hands, they would stay warmer.

Looking on e-bay I found these things, figure cheap enough to try and less than even a semi decent pair of gloves.

I have seen a few bikes with them, and while not crazy about the look, they are not too bad. For those that have them, do they really do anything, or am I wasting my money?

I had NC guards on the Shadow, worked well to block the wind. Heated grips worked better with them.

I have those hand guards, and they DO help. When I used to ride with just heavy gloves and wool liners, I could be comfortable down to about the 40s, but with the hand guards, I could go another 10-20 degrees colder before I needed my heated gloves. This should give you an idea of what a difference they will make.

OK, thanks, got them ordered.

I don't get cold enough for long enough to justify heated grips or gloves, but it sounds like these will do what I need on those really cold days.
