My new to me '01 spirit 1100. Story and first look.

I posted last week about the spirit 1100 I had lined up. It's now bathed, licensed and sitting in the garage. I found the bike on KSL.com, a local news channel website, that has an awesome classified section for Salt Lake and surrounding areas. I was browsing the motorcycles, when it popped up. I looked at the add then went to bed. I pulled it up again, the next day and it looked like such a good deal, I couldn't pass it up. So, I texted the guy, and to my surprise I was the first one. The bike was in St. George, Ut, 300mi from Salt Lake. Additionally, the owner was not available till Monday the following week. I managed to get off work at 1pm on Monday and was on the road by 2pm. After fast food and some pee breaks I made it to St. George at 6:30, inspected and test rode the bike, and loaded it up on the trailer. I did't haggle with the $1500 asking price. The drive back went pretty quick and I was backing in my driveway, at midnight. I've ridden it about 65 miles now.

Here are a few pics I took before washing. And....I have photos of the complete lack of maintenance this bike has had. Oh Boy! That will be in the next post, along with a list of all the known problems I'll have to address.

Nice looking Chicken!
The bike looks great! With the Mustang seat and the fact the bike runs, you got a good deal! Enjoy the task getting it up to your level of doneness and then enjoy the ride!
It looks good to me!
BTW, I have 6 chickens, all named and spoiled, they are pets and providers, I wasn't being funny, she's a nice looking gal!

Ol' red chicken is always into everything. She's a curious one. She's a RI red. I also have 2 jersey giants, and a barred rock. Spoiled chickens. Gotta fight to keep them out of the house.

I did not know that was a mustang seat. Cool. It's gonna need some help. The main seam in the seat is split and the previous owner filled it with black silicone.

Check the date code on your tires and dose of Seafoam or Berry B12 would be 1st. things to do as the bike got only 1,100 mi. average per year. Also shock bushings as they are rubber that wears and ages excessively.

06' 1100 Spirit (sold 6/23/13)
71' CL 100 "Lil' Sista"
99' Valkyrie "Adele"
05' 1600 Vulcan "Ludabelle"

Ride Bell by "Yoman"

To everything there are exceptions.

1100 m.i average per year, tire date code check, replace rubber shock bushings, feed her a couple tank full of Berry B12 or Seafoam, brake fluid change, fork oil change/fork seals, and a set of Progessive springs. (optional but excellent upgrade for the Spirit)

Black is the fastest color BTW.

A set of these greatly improved handling at slow speed and wrist comfort as the stock "Buckhorns" kinda suck.
