How long does the average VT engine last?

Hello!

How many miles could the VT engine last before it gets "worn out"?
Anyone here with 100.000++ miles on their bikes here?

There are a couple of guys with 160,000 miles.
Maintenance is the key. Oil changes especially.

Mine has about 43.000 miles, so I guess that is not that much?
Maybe it will last for some 10.000+ miles more with a bit of luck?

It's like anything, you don't take care of it, it's not going to last very long.

What he said! Look after it and don't abuse it, it should last a long time.

..will last more than ten-times that if you look after it. Find a service manual for your bike (which should include a maintenance schedule) - stick to that at a minimum.

...Just like others have said, that bike can outlast you, or less than five minutes - really depends how you treat and maintain it.

At the very minimum, change your oil regularly, and refrain from keeping less than a full tank of gas for extended periods of time, and it’ll easily live past 100,000.

100,000 mi. on VT1100 twin pins isn't uncommon if taken care of.

To everything there are exceptions.

Usually, it's not the engine that goes splooey.

It's the tranny, or the stator, or all the other stuff that makes a scooter go. At some point it's just no longer economical to keep throwing parts at an old worn out ride.

GoldWing. Nothing else needs be said...
