Kuryakyan Grips

Hello,

Not new to the forum, but its been a while. Just picked up a 2005 VTX 1300 with 6500 miles. Obviously, its been sitting and the tires and grips are dry rotted. Tires have been replaced, but the grips still look new, but they are making my hands black when I ride w/out gloves on. Anyone have any type of product they can suggest that I can use to restore the rubber and keep it from staining my hands? I hate to pay for replacements if its not necessary.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions

Grip puppies. Cheap and easy ish. Sorry, didn't Google and get a link, check it out.
Or, get heated grips.

What model VTX 1300?
I had a pretty nice r model, now @Sundown here owns it.
Hd Batwing, so technically it was a Xglide.

Or find some electrical heat shrink that size, but.....if the rubber is breaking down, it likely won't stop getting you dirty...

Thanks for the reply. Looking for some type of product that will "seal" those open pores in the rubber. Thought about Armor All but I don't want them to get slick.

Try Flex seal. No joke, that stuff is amazing! Rubber ish coating.
The tape is crazy sticky, seems to be legit!!!
They sell replacement rubbers for the Jury grips, but I can't say how hard they are to replace....

you could always make your own grip wraps like I did. I made them a little small so I had to stretch them over the grips. Mine have lasted a year now with no signs of wear and no sliping. I used marine grade vinyl so they are weather proof and easy to clean.

I bought some Chinese grips off of Ebay that look just like Kuryakyan Grips. They seem well made and fairly cheap.

Once the rubber starts rotting you can't fix it, it's just done.

For the Chinese look alike grips? My fear is getting the old grips as off as you never know who/how they were previously installed. If they were factory, I wouldn't hesitate.
