parking at an airport...

need to go visit some family for a couple days. thinking of riding to Richmond Intl Airport. been there many times, but not on the bike. they have 2 tiers of parking: economy open lot ($7/day) and a covered lot ($12/day). if I rode, i'd opt for the covered lot. it's just 4days.

one thing i like about my Shadow is it's low probability of being stolen. and a covered lot is likely pretty safe. any reason i should be nervous about this? I'd need to lock my FF to the bike.

Shouldn't be any concerns, I would think, much like parking your car, would be thieves or sh*trats, have more time to mess around in a long term lot, but they still never know if the owner of that ride is just arriving or not coming back for days. Wonder if there are lockers in the airport you can lock your lid in though, rather than leaving it on the bike? Probably now though.

...I don't know what your airport is like but in Detroit...NO FREAKIN WAY...I think you have a situation of avoidable trouble...why risk it?...

I doubt it would be an issue, but maybe a bright orange disc brake lock with a cord up to your bars would assist in the "don't mess with this bike" factor. RIC is not in a terrible part of town like other airports. I use a good cable type bicycle lock to lock my FF to my sissybar. Works like a charm. You may want to contact RIC, they may have motorcycle specific parking. I would offer to look after you bike, but I will be out of town as well.

Park it in front of junggle-early's house and take a cab to the airport.

you don;t know the date pal. hahah.

juggle-early. good points. yeah RIC always seems really safe.

one other thought is paying $20 extra for parking the bike in the covered lot would cover the extra gas if I just drove my big ole F-250 and parked in the economy lot.

we'll see. thanks for the replies.

Garage
Motorcycle parking is free at LAX. Given the normal car rate free is a tremendous deal and it is pretty well utilized. I've never had any problem leaving a bike there with the helmet locked on.

Take the truck.

If you decide to take the bike, use a caliper lock. If you don't have one, you can borrow mine.
