Rear cylinder drops

84 vt700 is what were dealing with. Have a on going issue with the rear cylinder dropping in first gear at the bottom of the gear on take off. Ive adjusted the af screws , no improvement, checked plugs and wires spark is good. All other gears the bike runs great. Yesterday it was do bad the bike would die after 15'-20' of take off. Any advice on where to look and for what ?

Have you got a plugged pilot jet on the carb for that cylinder?

If it idles well on both cylinders in neutral try a couple of simple things first.

Take out the mixture screw for the problem cylinder(don't loose the spring, washer or O ring), and spray some carb cleaner in through the hole.

And if your idle speed is set too slow it can cause a stalling problem taking off from a stop. I found that out my self.

You can probably run it without the washer for a while, the o ring will seal, but I would order one like this to put it back in proper order.

@swifty2014 i made a fast run in the pickup to my local bike shop. He had yhe washers and orings in stock $1.99ea. Grabbed yhe washer and figured put new orings in both carbs since i already had it apart. Was just funny as soon as i dropped it your warning popped in my head lol

Good to hear it will be an easy fix !
Hope you get the idle circuit cleaned by that method too. If you put the straw on the carb cleaner can, and put a rag over the opening, you may be able to "back flush" into the jet.

I have a bucket of chemdip i keep around. Just did a compleat tear down on the carbs and let the parts and jets soak then blew it all with the compressed air. All yhats lefy yo do is resync the carbs lol
