83 shadow 500 indicators

Hey folks!

Just looking for some help - total noob here. I replaced the front indicators on my bike are they supposed to be on all the time when the bike is turned on? They still flash when I turn them on but not sure if they are supposed to be running lights?

Also - bike was running before winter charged the battery sounds like it wants to run but won't start. Its Still pretty damp and cold out this way. Did I mess it all up?

Thanks in advance!

Front should have running lights and turn signals. When you say you replaced the front indicators did you replace the bulbs or the whole assemblies?

I would try connecting a car battery, (with out car running) and see if it starts. If you left untreated gas in the carbs over the winter you may have to clean out the carbs but do that as a last resort.

I replaced the entire assemblies. The rubber stems had to be replaced so I ended up doing the assemblies as well since they were falling apart.

I bought it at the end of the year so there was some old gas left in it unfortunately

You may have flooded it in the cold weather. Especially if the battery is cranking slow. Pull the plugs and see if they are black or wet and clean them. Go easy on the choke. My 750 is the same way, hard to start in cold temps and floods easy.
