No need of choke when engine is cold

Hello!

My VT800 seems to start very easily without using the choke when the engine is cold.
Do your bikes also start without choke?

Depends on the bike and what one considers 'cold'.

Mine "used" to start from cold (+60F, sitting overnight) without choke or much of it, but now that I messed with my handlebar controls it seems like it needs it on every start after sitting. Your's may just be adjusted perfectly, I wouldn't worry about it or mess with it.

I'm sure you'd have a hell of a time getting the engine started at anything "cold" enough to see your breath without choke though.

My 700 had to be started with choke after sitting overnight. Didn't need choke other than that

I have never used the choke either, even in 40 deg F.

Yes, however a more decisive question is does your engine start better with or without choke when cold. Mine can start either way but starts better using choke when cold. It is also possible your engine is running a bit rich therefore less choke is needed so perhaps check your spark plugs for soot ie blackish coloring. I run a bit lean so choke when starting is better but may be just years of habit.
